Q1: Does it Represent the Will of the Majority?
CONFLICT OF INTEREST: By inducing a fraction of those affected to tacitly grant absolute power to some hundreds — a group of industry and underworld pre-selected candidates predisposed to be amenable to special interests — i.e., the minority of people with the majority of the money. And if they don’t play ball the right way, they get ejected from the game. Like JFK.
INFORMED CONSENT: How can it be the will of the majority if the majority is uninformed on the process, the details, the actual decisions and consequences of the actions taken in their name?
TRANS-GOVERNMENTAL POLITICS: If the informed consent of the electorate is no longer a prerequisite for legitimate government, is it not a plain tyranny which self-identifies as a Democracy? Where do the leaders reside, really?
WHO’S GOT THE GOODS?: Let us do good will, not simply the will of the people. The people don’t all agree on how to live, but The Good Place, it can be said, is a much better neighborhood.
Q2: Does Freedom of Speech = Freedom of Reach?
1ST AMENDMENT: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
NO MEANS NO: No law, so use other means outside the law. Illegal, in other words. The government officials can do illegal things, same as the poors, except the nasty consequences are abrogated by influence and money.
ABRIDGE: To restrict, EVEN without losing the sense of Freedom.
Q3: It’s not Print, but is Twitter the Press?
CALL AN APP AN APP: Social Media are establishments of the Press, so 1st amendment rights must be protected.
VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY: Social Media is where people peaceably assemble. No regulation is allowed. Is your speech free if the government and corporations can log in and curtail it? Virtual assembly is by definition peaceable. You can’t actually commit violence via standard phone lines or even the fastest fiberoptic cable.
The government, however, can commit violence at a distance with aid of the internet, but the final step is a physical manifestation of force. e.g., A drone. An artillery barrage. Men with rifles and radios. Have a nice day!
Q4: Is this Even a Democracy?
What is the merger of government and corporations called again? Where they ignore people’s rights and do what they think is best for everyone, colluding to control the economy and ignoring the catastrophic results and protests?
